Moore: We have to transfer learnings into the league...

NICE TO SEE YOU: Port Vale boss Darren Moore greets Arsenal's Mikel Arteta ahead of the Carabao Cup tie.

‘The Valiants boss watched on and his team had just 19 per cent possession of the ball, but they were still in the game until the final five minutes despite not having a shot on target.

Moore decided not to go with his strongest team, leaving out three key men, Ben Garrity, George Byers and most tellingly, Devante Cole, who might have troubled Arsenal given the goal-scoring form he is in.

But overall there was no disgrace in losing by just two goals to one of the best sides in Europe and Moore told Port Vale TV: “First things first I want to thank all the supporters for coming out, I want to thank them personally.

“It was a proud moment for me as a manager to see Vale Park full, in full voice and they were excellent.
