Victim 'believed that she would be killed'

- Sentinel Reporter

TWO men have been jailed after a woman was subjected to a vicious attack.

Jake Eardley punched kicked and throttled his partner in a prolonged assault in Meir.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard she was left with injuries to her face and believed 'she was meant to be killed'.

Lewis Proctor played a minor role in the incident, helping Eardley take her to his flat. He was then caught with a lock knife when arrested.

Now 33-year-old Eardley has been jailed for 26 months and Proctor, aged 28, locked up for 15 months.

Prosecutor Jessica Foster said police received a call from a member of the public at 6.56pm on November 25 who said they had witnessed a man beating up his partner in the entrance to some flats.

Miss Foster said: "There were other reports that a woman was trying to get in houses and was saying she had been assaulted. She was located in the road by police.
