Man was under influence of drink or drugs
AN 'obnoxious influencer' pointed a 'realistic' imitation handgun out of the window of a hotel before two shots were heard.
Lakshay Maan was heavily under the influence of drink or drugs, or both, when he was seen with the black and silver gun in his waistband outside The Marriott Hotel in Keele.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard a woman who saw the weapon alerted hotel staff. It transpired Maan had been asked to leave the hotel for smoking in his room.
He took a taxi to the Holiday Inn, Clayton, where staff called the police after spotting the gun. At one point he pointed the gun through the window before two shots were heard. Officers arrived and detained him.
Now the 28-year-old has been sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for one year.
Prosecutor Matthew Ness said police received a call from a member of staff at The Marriott Hotel, Keele, at 5.45pm on February 12 stating that a customer reported seeing what looked like a firearm in the defendant's waistband.
