Business grows after being sold to its workers

A BEER retailer is on course to record a multi-million pound turnover - three years after part of the business was sold to its workers.

Silverdale-based Best of British Beer started with a car boot full of beer from a local brewery and is now set for a £3.5 million turnover in 2025/26. The business is on a high growth trajectory and grew net turnover by £900,000 between July 2022 and April 2024.

July 2022 was a significant month for the company as directors Will and Gill Sherwin sold 51 percent of the business to its employees.

The married couple and business partners say it was the best move they could have made as it has freed them up to concentrate on business strategy and growth while the already highly motivated team redoubled their efforts.
