Couple walking with toddler son were 'narrowly missed'

- Sentinel Reporter

A YOUNG couple fear their toddler son could have been killed after he was ‘narrowly missed’ by a quad bike.

Now they are calling for Staffordshire Police to ramp up their efforts to catch illegal bikers.

The pair and their three-year-old boy were walking along Ford Green Road, Norton, at around 2pm on Wednesday, August 27 when a ‘young guy wearing a balaclava’ mounted the pavement and drove towards them at speed.

Although the family - who have chosen to remain anonymous due to safety concerns - escaped unscathed, they were ‘really disappointed’ in the police response.

Speaking to The Sentinel, the mum explained: “We were walking along when we heard this weird noise. Then a quad bike came speeding around the corner.

“We think he was trying to escape from some kind of criminal incident down the road. He got on the pavement and sped at us from behind.
