The 35-year-old has now 'put his addictions behind him'

- Sentinel Reporter

EX-SQUADDIE Jake Campbell turned to drug dealing to pay off debts.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard how the 35-year-old was pulled over by police on Porthill Bank in February 2023 where officers discovered £350 cash in his Seat Ateca.

He was taken to Burslem Police Station, and whilst en route, he told officers he had drugs in his trousers. He admitted using drugs himself but answered 'no comment' during police questioning. Crack cocaine, cocaine and heroin were found on his person, which had been separated for street deals.

Now Campbell has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment suspended for two years.

Matthew Ness, prosecuting, said: “On February 2, 2023, the defendant was stopped by police on Porthill Bank. During a search of the vehicle the officers found £350 cash in the centre armrest compartment and a mobile phone in the front of the vehicle.

“He was taken to Burslem Police Station and was strip searched.
