Trains in operation every day as miniature railway celebrates birthday

40-years-old and no sign of running out of steam!

RUDYARD Lake Railway is running trains every single day this month to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The miniature train-line first welcomed passengers back in 1985.

New owners Adam and Aleks Jeffrey purchased the family attraction in May last year in order to save it from closure.

Train enthusiast Adam admits his enthusiasm for steam locomotives is an 'obsession'.

The 34-year-old's love of trains began at Rudyard Lake Railway, where he began volunteering at just 12-years-old.

He went on to secure a job as a train driver - before going on to buy the railway that sparked his passion.

Adam, of Rudyard, said: "Buying the railway was a split-second decision. I knew that if we didn’t take it on, the railway would probably close.

"The last owner spent so much time and money investing in the facilities. Sadly, there's not many people who want to tackle such a big undertaking.

"He was getting to the point where he was looking at possibly ripping up the place into pieces and selling it for scrap. It was either we did it or we'd have to watch the railway go.
