Beyond Asanas and pranayama..... Life lessons from yoga classes

As I sat in _sukh asana_, my eyes gently closed and hands in _gyan mudra_, I could hear the soft monologue of my yoga _guru_, "Cut all the distractions around you..... gather your thoughts from here and there....", she was exhorting when all the time my senses were being relentlessly assaulted by the incessant honking of an impatient driver out on the street; the friendly growls from of my Shihtzu indignantly seeking my undivided attention.....

Breaking this cacophony her soothing voice wafted in, this time, asking me to press the 'pause button'. What button? After years of nonstop frenetic activity, straddling between work at office and work at home; where vacations had become fewer and far between; I realised that I was either born bereft of this useful device or mine had become dysfunctional from years of disuse.
