SMC: Don't Blame MRT-7 for Floods
The Philippine Star
|July 23, 2025
San Miguel Corp. (SMC) Infrastructure, which is overseeing the construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7, yesterday refuted claims that its facilities near the MRT-7 Batasan station caused the flooding along Commonwealth Avenue and other parts of Metro Manila.
In a statement, SMC said the MRT-7 structures in the area, including columns and footings, were built outside existing drainage lines and do not obstruct the natural flow of water.

WASACHI'S FIRST INTERNATIONAL BRANCH IS NOW IN MANILA
It only took a single visit for Jaime Daez, founder and managing director of Fully Booked, to go green. “A friend of mine from Malaysia told me about Wasachi in December of 2024, and told me that this was the best matcha in Tokyo that he had tried and that I had to check it out,” he recalls. “I was in Tokyo the following month, and had to see for myself if the matcha was, indeed, that good. I left the café a believer and a converted matcha enthusiast.”
