Singapore aircraft maintenance firm to operate in NAIA

An aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider is entering Manila by September to provide airlines at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) with another MRO option.

SIA Engineering Co. Ltd. (SIAEC) will begin operating in NAIA by September as part of efforts to scale up business in the Philippines following its initial investment in Clark.

SIAEC will open up an MRO hub in NAIA through domestic unit SIA Engineering (Philippines) Corp. (SIAEP), showing confidence in aviation developments in Manila.

NAIA operator New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) views SIAEP's entry as a show of trust in the upgrades being made at the airport. Likewise, NNIC president and CEO Ramon Ang said SIAEP would also contribute in raising the investment potential of NAIA.
