PNP generals probed over case of sabungeros

Several police generals are under investigation for their possible involvement in the kidnapping and disappearance of sabungeros (cockfight enthusiasts), the National Police Commission announced yesterday.
Napolcom vice chairman and executive officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan said that apart from the 18 police officers whom whistle-blower Julie Patidongan has identified, investigators have uncovered the names of more people linked to the case.
"Several names that we are investigating have not surfaced," Calinisan told reporters.
When asked about the highest-ranked officials, Calinisan said, "Some are generals."
He refrained from disclosing more details about the police generals so as not to jeopardize the probe.
