Doing 'Bagets' in 1984 was so much fun and quite an experience. This was a time when conversations and belongingness in the community would abound. There were no gadgets. No mobile phones. Social media was still decades away. All of us in the main cast — me, Aga Muhlach, Raymond Lauchengco, J.C. Bonnin, William Martinez — were teenagers. I was 17. Our minds weren't occupied with the worries of the world. We just had fun. You know, boys will be boys and girls just want to have fun!

'Bagets' the movie gets a musical version, featuring alternating casts across performance dates on Jan. 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 31 and Feb. 1 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. 'Bagets The Musical' is a production of Newport World Resorts with The Philippine STAR and VIVA Communications.

The show is staged by PETA Plus and presented in cooperation with Sun Life Philippines, supported by RC Cola and Chippy.

through our costumes, hairstyles and lingo (“Nice one!”). And that’s what the youth in the 1980s copied.
