BEYOND RX: WATSONS PROMOTES HEART HEALTH THROUGH ART
The Philippine Star
|September 30, 2025
Emotionally stressful events — whether it's a breakup, the death of a loved one, or the passing of a beloved pet — can truly tear our hearts apart. Heartbreak can lead to immense emotional strain which, in turn, may take a toll on our heart health.
While stress doesn’t directly cause heart disease, chronic stress significantly increases the risk by triggering unhealthy habits such as poor diet and lack of exercise. Over time, these behaviors — along with the physiological changes caused by stress — can contribute to plaque buildup in arteries, hypertension, and other cardiovascular issues.
Managing stress through lifestyle changes, such as regular exercise and a balanced diet, as well as engaging in creative activities like dancing, painting, and drawing, can help reduce cortisol levels, ease stress, and improve overall mood.
ART FOR HEART
Recognizing the need to nurture both heart and mind, Watsons Philippines recently hosted “#HeARTworks,” an initiative designed to remind Filipinos that heart care goes beyond prescriptions. The event was held at drybrush Gallery in SM Mall of Asia.
