BARMM Candidates Forge Peace Deal

COTABATO CITY — Eight aspirants for the six seats of two parliamentary districts here have forged a covenant to help ensure a clean and peaceful regional election on Oct. 13.
Candidates Shariff Abas, Reynaldo Canen and Romeo Sema, who are eyeing the seat for the city's first parliamentary district, signed the compact during a symbolic rite yesterday.
Zahrumin Midtimbang, Al-Haashir Ala, Madatu Datumanong, Jaafar Ali and Naguib Sinarimbo, all aspiring to represent the second district, also signed the covenant.
The eight candidates expressed appreciation to the Philippine Marine Corps, the Army's 6th Infantry Division and the Cotabato City police for their efforts to foster peace in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The BARMM will hold its first parliamentary election on Oct. 13.
