Audio firm banks on custom microphones for market edge

Audiophile Components Inc. is testing whether customization can drive higher margins in the professional audio market by launching a personalization program for Shure microphone models, which have long dominated live performance venues.

The country's largest audio equipment distributor, in partnership with Color Hue, a Navotas-based art restoration company, began offering engraving services for select Shure wired and wireless microphone systems in September, allowing customers to add initials or short text to units that typically retail between P8,000 and P50,000.
