Union budget blind to J&K’s rising unemployment: Gupta

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President for Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta, on Tuesday strongly criticised the Union Budget 2026-27, alleging that it is blind to the region’s rising unemployment, development deficit and concerns of the middle class.
Reacting to the Budget, Gupta said the additional allocation of 2,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir is grossly inadequate and fails to address unemployment or accelerate development. He claimed that the announced allocations are merely a repackaging of centrally sponsored schemes, with no special financial package for the Union Territory.
