China, Canada, Mexico eagerly waiting for New York Court verdict on Trump's Tariff war

Legal battle is expected to be prolonged as per President sees it as challenge to his power

The war of attrition has begun on Trumps unilateral global tariffs on some 160 countries primarily China, Canada and Mexico as a three-judge bench of New York court blocked on Wednesday the measure saying the US President has no unilateral powers to impose tariffs on other countries.
Though on Thursday, Trump got a temporary relief, the main issue will be heard in the context of violation of established norms pursued by the U.S. government.
This brings a sense of relief especially to China, Mexico and Canada and the EU block of 27 countries which were pushing back on Trump's tariffs with their own reciprocal tariffs following which Trump enhanced tariffs further bringing them all to negotiate. India was not spared despite the bonhomie between Premier Modi and President Trump as it came under a 27% unilateral tariff that would affect its pharma exports even as Trump asked Apple not to locate its factory in India as it decided to shift from China to India.
Even as EU countries and Trump were negotiating on the new round of 50% tariffs after a call from EC chief Ursula von der Leyen to postpone it till July, which trump readily agreed, the court's verdict has changed the atmosphere with the US President asking for reprieve.
The court said Trump doesn't have the power to unilaterally impose some tariff - Trump's global tariffs blocked by federal judges. Trump's global tariffs were blocked by federal judges in a blow to his effort to reorder global trade. The panel of judges in the U.S. The Court of International Trade blocked Trump's global tariffs, determining they are "contrary to law."
The Trump administration is urging the New York-based Court of International Trade to delay its order, warning that any enforcement of the ruling will cause a "foreign policy disaster scenario." In an opinion on Wednesday, the three-judge panel struck down Trump's global tariffs as "contrary to law."
