SIR cleaned up Bihar poll rolls after 22 years: CEC

CLAIMING that Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 'purified' Bihar's voter list after 22 years, chief election commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar said on Sunday that 17 new initiatives were undertaken for assembly elections in the state.
He said these initiatives will be incorporated across the country in due course.
Addressing the media on the last day of his visit to take stock of poll preparedness, Kumar said these initiatives include a new SOP to ensure that EPIC cards are delivered to voters within 15 days of registration and a mobile deposit facility at polling booths. The number of voters in each booth has been restricted to 1,200 to avoid long queues during eleventh hour of polling.
