No SC relief to Lalu in land-for-jobs case

THE Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay the trial against Lalu Prasad, the RJD chief and former Bihar CM, in the land-for-jobs case investigated by the CBI. However, it exempted Yadav from personal presence during the trial.
-
"We are not inclined to stay the trial in the case. Sorry," said a bench of Justices M M Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh.
On May 29, the Delhi HC, while dismissing Prasad's petition for a stay of the trial, said that there was no compelling reason to stay the proceedings.
The HC had issued a notice to the CBI regarding Prasad's plea for quashing of the FIR and scheduled the hearing for August 12.
On Thursday, the RJD chief challenged the Delhi HC order dismissing his plea seeking a stay on the trial court proceedings in the case in the SC.
