KL church welcomes SIR, but parties to challenge it in court

THE Syro-Malabar Church welcomed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the state, even as the ruling LDF and opposition UDF decided to legally challenge the exercise.

On Wednesday, when an allparty meeting convened by CM Pinarayi Vijayan came down heavily on the SIR, the Church asked them to cooperate with the drive. In a letter to the laity, the Syro-Malabar Church's Public Affairs Committee secretary Fr James Kokkavayalil called upon them to cooperate with booth level officers visiting their homes with enumeration forms. The Church also instructed the faithful to ensure they keep all the documents handy
