Pondy botanical garden to be revamped with joy rides

PUDUCHERRY'S 197-year-old Botanical Garden, which was featured in Ang Lee's movie Life of Pi, is set to charm visitors once again with a slew of renovations under the Smart City project, costing approximately around ₹10 crore.
A key highlight is the replacement of the 40-year-old joy train with a modern battery-operated toy train and new railway track at a cost of ₹1.16 crore. While the old train will be preserved as an antique, a new shed is being constructed to house the upgraded attraction. The train's compartments have already arrived, and the engine is expected soon to kick-start the joy rides.
