Speciality Hosp Will Become Functional in Phases

CHIEF Minister MK Stalin is set to inaugurate the newly-constructed government multi-purpose super speciality hospital in Vellore on Wednesday.
The seven-storey hospital, built at a cost of ₹198 crore, aims to address the long-standing demand for advanced medical infrastructure in the district. However, Public Works Minister EV Velu confirmed that the hospital will become functional in phases and not all departments will be opened together.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting the hospital site along with other officials, Minister Velu said while the construction is complete, only the final cleaning work remains. "The outpatient department will be operational first, followed by the obstetrics, paediatrics, and neonatal departments. A new hospital cannot be made fully operational at once, but will be opened gradually," he said.
