A mob of over 500 people, including former BJP MLA Sangeet Som, indulged in violence and staged a sit-in protest at the Bhuni toll plaza under Sarurpur police station area in the Meerut district on Monday after a video of the toll plaza employees assaulting an army jawan went viral.
The protesters vandalized the toll plaza offices, destroyed computers, ACs, and furniture, and pelted stones at the employees. The protest ended after the administration assured them that it would meet their demands, including action against those involved in the assault.
