Victim was Inter second year MPC student; principal described her as a bright girl

- K MADHU SUDHAKAR @Kurnool

In a horrifying incident, a man set a 17-year-old girl student on fire after breaking into her house for rejecting his love proposal in Nandikotkur town of Nandyal district on Monday.

Later, the man, identified as Raghavendra, reportedly attempted to self-immolate himself.

The girl died on the spot while the man is currently in critical condition in Kurnool Government General Hospital.

The brutal attack has sparked widespread outrage and sorrow.

Life has been a relentless struggle for Rama Lakshmi, mother of the victim.

A little over a decade ago, she lost her husband, Sivarama Krishna, and took on the immense responsibility of raising her only daughter, Lahari, as a single mother.
