A seasoned medical professional with deep administrative expertise, Dr Daggumati Sreehari Rao has recently assumed office as Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (APMC).

Appointed by the State government on March 23, he took the oath of office on April 1 at the APMC headquarters on the Dr NTR University of Health Sciences campus in Vijayawada.

Since taking charge, Dr Sreehari Rao has introduced several reforms focused on decentralising services, minimising bureaucratic delays, and modernising the council's operations.

His immediate priority has been to bring APMC services closer to doctors working in various districts.

"We began decentralising renewals and re-registrations right from our first council meeting," he said.

"Except for first-time permanent registrations, doctors no longer need to travel to Vijayawada."

To achieve this, APMC has started holding district-level registration camps every weekend.
