No maintenance, plants on Thiruvanaikovil bridge median wither

ONCE hailed as a beautification initiative, the ornamental plants placed in colourful square-shaped pots at the median of Thiruvanaikovil bridge have now become a neglected sight, with many plants dried out and several pots damaged.
The lack of maintenance and action from authorities has drawn criticism from local residents and visitors alike.
Around 40 potted ornamental plants were installed along the bridge median in 2023, aiming to enhance the visual appeal of the area frequently used by pilgrims travelling to Srirangam.
Initially praised for its aesthetic contribution, the setup now stands in a dilapidated state due to poor upkeep and vandalism.
