Ex-IG of Punjab loses ₹8 cr in online fraud, attempts suicide

AFTER allegedly losing %8.10 crore to cyber fraudsters, Amar Singh Chahal, a former IGP and one of the accused in the 2015 Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura firing cases, reportedly attempted suicide in Patiala.
Sources said that Chahal was rushed to Park Hospital with a serious chest injury. He is undergoing treatment after he tried to shoot himself. Doctors said he continues to be critical.
In a hand written note recovered from the scene, he called himself a victim of some cyber financial fraud. He detailed the circumstances that led to him taking this extreme step.
