In response to the rising demand for affordable higher education, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has facilitated the admission of 25,000 additional students in government higher education institutions from the current academic year, said Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhian.

Speaking to reporters on Monday after inaugurating a week-long orientation programme for first-year undergraduate students at Government Arts College in Tiruvidaimarudur, he said that 15 new government arts and science colleges have been opened across the state for the 2025-26 academic year.
