Multi-level car parking at Kollam railway station to be operational by May

The five-storey structure can accommodate 138 cars and 260 two-wheelers at a time

THE multi-level car parking (MLCP) tower near the Chinnakada flyover—a key component of the Kollam railway station upgradation project—is in its final phase and expected to be operational by May. The facility is intended to ease the city's chronic parking issues.

Only finishing touches remain, including installation of an automatic entry-exit gate and speed barrier. Painting work is also under way.

"About 90% of the work on the MLCP has been completed. Only painting and the installation work of the speed barrier and automatic gate are left. We believe the remaining work can be completed in 15 to 20 days. Most likely, the MLCP will be operational by the first week of May," said a source at Southern Railway.
