Silvy Maxi Mena empowers students who are hard of hearing through dance, Karate

Silvy, a qualified sign language educator, began developing a unique art form during her career. This art form translates the musicality of dance into sign language using mudras. Four years of research went into creating this unique style, called Mudranatanam, which has become her signature method for mentoring students with hearing impairments.

But Silvy's journey didn't end with dance. She also teaches karate. As a child, she learned judo from her father, who believed self-defense was an essential skill for every child. Years later, she enrolled her daughter in karate classes and, at the age of 40, joined her, marking a turning point in her life.
