TAKING a dig at anti-labour policies of central and state governments, state secretary of the Communist Party of India Sathi Sundaresh on Thursday called upon workers to raise their voices against the present policies that have put the workers in distress. These policies need amendments, he said.
Addressing labourers during the May Day observation in memory of the martyred workers in front of the AITUC office, he said It was on this day in 1886, workers in Chicago, America, started a struggle for eight hours of work, eight hours of rest, and eight hours of entertainment during which seven policemen and four civilians were killed.
