Karaikal STP 60% complete, to be ready by June: PWD

THE sewage treatment plant (STP) being set up in Karaikal at a cost of ₹43 crore following a National Green Tribunal (NGT) direction is 60% complete, said the Puducherry PWD, adding that the facility is likely to be completed by June this year.
Construction of the STP funded by the Union government's Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme as well as the Puducherry PWD on around 2.5 acres in Puthuthurai commenced in December 2023 after an NGT direction to prevent contamination of rivers such as the Arasalar, Noolar and the Vanjiyar with the discharge of th
