Farmers Say 'No' to Raising Genome-Edited Paddy

FARMERS in the Cauvery delta region want the state government to clarify whether there is any proposal to introduce genome-edited paddy varieties, released recently by the Union government, for cultivation in the delta districts.
Voicing apprehension about the negative impacts such crops may have on the health of human beings and soil, they on Sunday announced a protest in demand of a report on it in Tiruvarur on June 3.
