Chief minister also promises to establish NIMHANS in Mysuru soon
In a major step towards making cancer treatment more accessible and convenient, especially for economically disadvantaged communities, the state government has established Day-care Chemotherapy Centres in 16 district hospitals across the state. These centres follow a hub-and-spoke model to ensure efficient healthcare delivery.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated all the centres on Friday at the District Hospital in Metagalli in Mysuru.
Speaking at the event, the chief minister cited the ICMR-NCRP 2023 report, stating that Karnataka reports around 70,000 new cancer cases annually, placing it second only to Tamil Nadu in cancer incidence.
"The government is committed to providing quality healthcare across all districts," he said.
