Rupee loses 20 paise to test new low of 92.45 per dollar

THE rupee plunged to a new low on Friday, losing 20 paise to close at a fresh low of 92.45 against the dollar that has been on a winning streak since the war on Iran began, coupled with the worries over rise in crude prices which crossed $101 a barrel.

The rupee has been falling since last year when it lost 4.9% against the dollar and was the third-worst performing currency globally. Come 2026, the local currency has been under more pressure as the foreign capital flight from the capital market continues.
