Says technologies have been adopted in each district of the state where not a single drop of water is wasted
UNION Minister of state for Railways and Jala Shakti V Somanna said that Madhya Pradesh is 50 years ahead of Karnataka in water management. Speaking at a state-level convention of farmers held during the World Farmers Day and Farmers Festival organised by Federation of Farmers Associations, Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene and Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association at KSOU Convocation Hall on Monday, Somanna said that Karnataka cannot reach 10 per cent progress in water management done by Madhya Pradesh in 50 years.
"The government has initiated various projects on water management. It has used technologies to grow maximum agriculture crop yield in minimum water. The technologies had been adopted in each district of the state where not a single drop of water was wasted. The water is pumped 200 feet to 300 feet to irrigate agricultural land and supply drinking water. Even Chhattisgarh state has adopted a similar system. I request farmers from Karnataka to visit these two states and gain knowledge on maximum utilisation of water to save the natural resources for future generations," he said.
He appealed to youths to write exams for the recruitment in the railway department.
"As Kannadigas, especially those from rural backgrounds, had problems in writing exams in Hindi, I appealed to PM Modi and introduced Kannada language. But ironically, even after the introduction of Kannada language, youths are still hesitant to write railway exams. Due to which most of the railway officers are from North India," he said.
