Over 31 Crore Passengers Travel in KSRTC Buses in District Since Shakti Scheme Launch

Since the launch of the state government's Shakti scheme offering free travel for women in state-run buses, Mysuru district has witnessed an impressive surge in bus ridership.

From June 1, 2023, till date, a total of 46.67 crore passengers have travelled in KSRTC buses across the district. Of this, 31.04 crore or 66.51% were women availing benefits under the Shakti scheme.

This data has been compiled from six units in the Mysuru rural division and four units in the Mysuru city division, which together operate a fleet of 1,308 buses, comprising 751 in rural areas and 557 in the city limits. In the financial year 2023-24 (from June 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024), 18.39 crore passengers travelled on KSRTC buses in the district. Of these, 10.81 crore, or 58.79% were Shakti scheme beneficiaries.

The revenue generated during this period was Rs 246.77 crore. The numbers rose significantly in 2024-25 (from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025), with 22.58 crore passengers, of which 15.99 crore or 70.8% travelled under the Shakti scheme. Revenue also increased substantially to Rs 404.77 crore.
