Greens fume as panel yet to submit report on tree cutting

MUDA commissioner says probe will be completed in 2-3 days and a report will be submitted to the Mysuru DC

In a glaring example of official apathy towards protecting the environment, the three-member committee, which was appointed to probe the cutting of more than 40 trees on Hyder Ali Road near the SP's office, has yet to submit its report.

The Deputy Commissioner, who had formed the committee, had given the panel a seven-day deadline to submit the probe report by the fourth week of April.

After more than 40 trees were cut by Mysuru City Corporation and Forest department for taking up the widening of Hyder Ali Road in the wee hours of Sunday (April 13), hundreds of environmentalists and activists from various citizens' forums held a series of protests, alleging that trees were cut illegally and action must be taken up against the officials who were involved in the incident.
