BoS Must Verify Teachers' Credentials Before Approving PhD Guides: UoM VC

The Board of Studies must verify qualifications, experience and other details of teachers'

University of Mysore Vice-chancellor N K Lokanath emphasised that the Board of Studies (BoS) must thoroughly verify qualifications, experience and other details of teachers before approving them as PhD guides. He was speaking at the university's academic council general meeting held at Crawford Hall on Monday.

During the meeting, a council member raised concern about the approval of a PhD guide at a college in KM Doddi in Maddur taluk in Mandya district. "When I requested the details of the teacher recognised as a PhD guide, the college did not provide a clear response. The university must verify such details to maintain academic standards and quality in line with UGC guidelines. There should also be an annual evaluation of approved guides," the member said. Responding to these concerns, Vice-chancellor Lokanath stressed that private college managements must strictly adhere to UGC norms.
