Top Cops Warn of Action Against Illegal Sand Mafia, DJ Misuse

MANGALURU city police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy and Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Arun K announced on Sunday that they will take action against the illegal sand mafia and the use of DJ systems beyond permitted hours in the district.
During the SC/ST grievance meeting at the city police commissioner's office, a Dalit leader said that daily wage laborers lost their jobs due to a shortage of laterite stones and sand, to which SP Arun said that there is sufficient non-CRZ sand available, but the mafia is demanding only CRZ sand, which will not be allowed.
"People can book sand on the dedicated app of the district administration. But some people, who are part of the sand mafia, are demanding only the CRZ sand. In Bengaluru, buildings constructed using M-Sand and holoblocks are safe. We will not allow illegal sand mining in the district," SP said.
