ANDHRA Pradesh (AP) Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy announced that the state would implement a free travel scheme for women in state-run buses, modelled after Karnataka's successful 'Shakti' scheme.
A delegation of ministers comprising Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and Women and Child Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Friday. They discussed the success of the five guarantee schemes in the state, with a focus on the 'Shakti' scheme, which has accelerated economic progress and fostered women empowerment.
