Centre Ordering NIA Probe As Per Its Whims, Says Ivan

Congress MLC Ivan D'Souza on Tuesday accused the BJP-led Central government of ordering a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into murder cases as per its whims and fancies and highlighted the need for a public debate over the issue.

Referring to the Centre ordering an NIA probe into the murder of rowdy-sheeter and Hindutva activist Suhas Shetty, the MLC told reporters that there is no evidence about the involvement of banned PFI, foreign funding or terror angle in the case. "NIA probe should not be ordered as per their whims and fancies. There are guidelines as to on what grounds NIA probe can be ordered suo motu and not," he said.
