Shell-shocked border villagers return home

WITH the India-Pakistan ceasefire holding and no cross-border shelling in the last 24 hours, displaced residents of the border town of Uri have begun returning to their homes in the border area.
Uri was in the direct line of Pakistani fire after "Operation Sindoor"—many who have lost their houses to cross-border shelling wonder where they will live now. At least 26 people were killed and about a hundred injured in cross-border shelling in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir since "Operation Sindoor".
"I am thrilled that we are returning to our homes. However, cross-border shelling has caused destruction and devastation in Uri. Hundreds of houses and structures have been damaged," said Fazal-ud-Din Naik of Uri.
