SC refuses to relax firecracker ban in capital
The New Indian Express Kozhikode
|April 04, 2025
THE Supreme Court on Thursday refused to modify its earlier decision of banning the manufacture, storage and sale on firecrackers in Delhi-NCR, saying that air pollution levels remained alarming.
AFTER a huge amount of unaccounted cash was allegedly recovered from the residence of Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma on March 14, Supreme Court judges have recently agreed in a full court meeting to declare their assets to the Chief Justice of India. The declaration of the judges' assets will be uploaded on the Supreme Court's website. The decision was taken during a full court meeting on April 1.
Legal experts say though the asset declaration is nothing new, the unanimous decision by the top court judges is a positive step in restoring public faith in the judiciary.
