Protests Erupt as ST Man Dies in Wild Jumbo Attack in Noolpuzha

Local residents allowed authorities to shift the body to hospital only after getting assurances from Wayanad wildlife warden about further measures to be taken

IN ANOTHER tragic incident, a man belonging to the tribal community was trampled to death by a wild jumbo in Noolpuzha on Monday evening.

The deceased is Manu, 45, of Paniya tribe in Velleri tribal settlement, at Kappad, a Tamil Nadu-Kerala border village, in Chettyalathur ward. Manu is the second person to die in a wild animal attack in the district in a month.

In January, a coffee plantation worker named Radha, 45, was killed in a tiger attack in Pancharakolli, Mananthavady. Also, exactly a year ago (February 10), an elephant named Belur Makhna had trampled Ajeesh, 47, to death in Mananthavady.
