Cash-hit HP to lift lottery ban after 25 years

IN a policy shift, the cash-strapped Himachal Pradesh has decided to lift its 25-year-old ban on lotteries, with expectations of annual revenue between ₹50 and ₹100 crore.
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting in Shimla on Thursday, as the state's debt has surpassed ₹1 lakh crore amid the declining central allocations and the withdrawal of GST compensation.
