Asia Cup to be handed over in official ceremony: Naqvi

REFUSING to budge from his previous stance, Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman and also president of Asian Cricket Council (ACC), reiterated that the Asia Cup will be personally handed to the victorious Indian team by him in his capacity as the head of the continental cricket board.

Replying to a letter sent to him by the Indian cricket board (BCCI) over delay in handing over the trophy, Naqvi, in fact, reportedly proposed to hold a ceremony on November 10 in Dubai for the purpose. “The ACC trophy rightly belongs to the Indian cricket team and is being held in trust till such time that a BCCI office holder along with any available participating player can collect the same from the ACC President,” Naqvi wrote in his reply. “Such collection would of course be accompanied with much fanfare and coverage as there should be no deviation from established practices and no precedent should be set which undermines the spirit of the game we all love,” he
