TNIE takes the Windsor EV out for a 1,000km drive
The Windsor, the latest offering from JSW MG Motor India, has taken the Indian EV market by storm. Its unconventional design makes it a head-turner, while its feature-rich package and competitive pricing make it a compelling choice.
I recently had the opportunity to take the Windsor on a long drive, clocking about 1,000km. Here's what makes it such a likeable car.
Performance and range The MG Windsor EV is powered by a 136hp motor producing 200Nm of torque. It features a 38kWh lithium ferrous phosphate (LFP) battery pack with a claimed range of 332km. The car offers four drive modes—Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport—along with regenerative braking settings that influence real-world range.
During my drive, I covered over 300km on a full charge. With an energy consumption rate of 8km per kWh, the 38kWh battery reliably delivers a range of around 304 km. Maximising regenerative braking and driving in Eco+ or Eco mode can help extend this.
