THE draft University Grants Commission (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment and Promotion of Teachers and Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education) Regulations, 2025, had been issued with the motive of doing away with the rights of states in the higher education sector, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
In a statement on Wednesday, Pinarayi lodged his strong protest over the move to install the chancellor as the absolute authority in state-run universities.
