Three Dog Shelters to Come Up in Kannur to Combat Stray Menace

Strays to be caught and relocated to the facilities expected to be operational within two days

IN AN urgent move to address the growing stray dog menace in the district, it has been decided to establish three shelter homes within Kannur city. Two of these facilities will be set up within the corporation area and one within the cantonment zone. All three shelters are expected to be operational within two days, with stray dogs to be caught and relocated there.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at the Collectorate Conference Hall, chaired by Registration Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran. The meeting was convened in the wake of a series of stray dog attacks reported from various parts of the district.
